[review] Trigun (series)

TrigunHow can I review Trigun without having any spoilers involved? The setting is a different world in the future, however the prominent mood is always that of the wild west. Let’s just say that the main character Vash‘s past is a big of the whole story… and everything revolves (or evolves) from there. It’s not so evident from the first episode, but after you’ve finished the series, you would agree that Vash is a very interesting person in terms of character development. I liked Trigun a lot. I liked it because of the main character and the whole back-story that comes along with it. What I didn’t like was its development. After you’ve finished the series, you’d notice that the concept story had a lot of potential, but didn’t quite hit the spot. But it’s very interesting nonetheless. If I say anythng more, then, i’d be giving away the story. So let’s just leave you with this: The Vash’s past is extremely interesting. Though the development isn’t as good as Rurouni Kenshin (1st, and 2nd season), I’d say character-wise Vash blows Kenshin out of the water. All Kenshin episodes were basically about a guy who can’t kill, yet always ends up fighting. Though you gotta hand it to them that the development of the series (till the 2nd) was excellent. Trigun could be considered the opposite: Vash’s “character” is one of the more unique concoctions of anime creators. |
