OK I really think finished this1, I’m just really lazy to dig up the cds to make sure but I’m sure i finished it (13 episodes right?). In any case it’s irrelevant since no one in his/her right mind would say the ending in the review. So here I will grant Aaygo’s2 wish of reviewing this… though she may not like it. But here goes.

Saishuu Heiki Kanojo3

This anime isn’t really my type. Either I watched it at a wrong time, or that it just didn’t rub me the right way. I’m beginning to think it’s just me since this anime I think has been making rounds in people’s “must watch” lists. But hey it’s my review therefore my opinion.

It’s basically about the life of a girl who’s been modified into some sort of ultimate weapon. She has a boyfriend, who discover her predicament earlier on the series. I guess the anime is a similar to the human dimension of a super-hero – it focuses on how “heros” (in this case heroines) still bleed. That’s about it, all the episodes are basically trying to tell us the same thing: “you poor girl” or “what a pair of miserable lovers” or even “poor guy, can’t even help the woman he loves” something along those lines. With that, yes, the story is indeed sad. And if you’re the type of person who likes and gets involved in these types of stories, then this probably would be a sureball tear-jerker for you.

However, I didn’t dig it that much. I actually even tried staying awake to finish some eps. (but then again people have said to had slept through the anime which I liked so who am I to say this). Also, I can’t remember the ending! Which should count for something since that’s what everybody waits for in watching right? And I find myself not caring about forgetting the ending. I’m thinking that another reason could be because I didn’t dig Chise’s character – it was too pathetic for my tastes. Sure she’s “the ultimate weapon” and all, but really, who are we kidding, she’s pathetic. Her being soft spoken ain’t cute at all! I found it too cheezy for me. While I loved Hana Yori Dango (and that has got to be the epitome of cheezy-ness in anime), this was the pathetic-sort-of-cheezy if you ask me.

Pros? dead ringer the animation, you can always count on those Gonzo peeps to pump out one of the the best animation every time.

I would still recommend this I guess since it’s only 13 eps so you’d be done with it in no time regardless if you like it or not.

Such a waste if you ask me. I mean the plot in itself I think could still make it. I mean we’ve all seen simpler plots work for other animes so I was hoping this could actually be something cool. Again, the animation was cool.

    1. This is probably the first series I kept on dozing off to sleep.
    2. A person in an IRC channel I used to frequent
    3. The shortened name is “Saikano.” It’s kind of hard to translate this directly but it roughly means “Ultimate Female Weapon” – but actually the context should mean, “the ultimate weapon… which happens to be a girl.”
