The longest day of my life (so far)

I’ve just finalized the “purchase” of my new Powerbook, to be delivered tomorrow.

I used quotes, since the distributor, by some act of God, allowed to give me the machine without any downpayment, credit, or check.

It seems they know a friend of mine quite well, and have unwavering trust in his “customers.”

The story behind that is that I will have the cash by the end of the month. Of course me being me, an impatient bastard, I tried to find ways to get the machine asap without having to give post-dated checks, or having a credit card surcharge.

Anyways, to make a long story short – I ended up having to wait till the end of the month since that’s where the actual cash comes in.

A friend of mine, however, referred me to this other store – which happens to be a Gold distributor of Apple products. I texted them Saturday night, and they said they’d get back to me monday morning. They also mentioned there was a 5% surcharge (which was lower, but a surcharge nonetheless)

A little while ago, I recieved a call from the saleperson saying that since I was referred by this friend of mine, they could do the transaction by word of honor. Meaning I didn’t have to use my card, give any check… nor any downpayment whatsoever.

Too good to be true eh? Well it is too good, but it is most certainly true. I could pay them the full amount by Nov 1. at the latest, but for all the effort they’re going through, I’m pretty sure I’ll be giving a downpayment… just so I don’t look pathetic. I mean my case really seemed like a charity case (“Please sir I don’t have money right now” hehehe)

So there you have it.

  • 15-inch Powerbook G4 1.5GHz
  • 15.2″ TFT Display
  • 1GB DDR333 RAM, 80GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive (upgraded to 5400rpm)
  • SUPERDRIVE
  • ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 w/ 64MB of DDR SDRAM
  • Built-in 54MBPs Airport Extreme
  • Built-in Bluetooth
  • Built-in 56K Modem
  • Built-in 10/100Base-T Ethernet
  • with Iskin Pro Touch Keyboard

Price : <edited out> Payment : End of the Month. Delivery : October 19, 2004

Mind you, it only costs PhP 2,000 more from when you get it from the Apple Store at http://www.apple.com. Also, it comes with a 4200rpm drive, but they will replace it as soon as a 5400rpm unit comes… free of charge!

An incredibly great arrangement/deal!

So now, I wait… the longest day of my life so far… hehehe.

The Apple lady texted me today and told me about your purchase. I’m glad to be of help. You actually got a better deal than I did! Now, if only they would be so grateful that they give me my next Mac for free. Dumadami na ang ‘customer’ ko, at wala man lang akong commission!

But honestly, I’m very happy with that dealer. Great deals, and great service.

Enjoy your PowerBook.

Once you go Mac, you’ll never go back!
