Here’s a concise video which encapsulates the whole Limbaugh – Fox issue. You basically have the ad in question at the start, and Mr. Limbaugh’s comments which sparked the media frenzy.

I believe everything that has to be said about this can be found in other news sites, blogs, etc.

I think the general consensus (or at least the consensus of people without any political agendas) is that Mr. Limbaugh was very insenstive and quite frankly, a douchebag, asshole, and hypocrite all rolled into one.

I won’t bother reiterating the reasons why people hate Limbaugh’s stand on this issue, but will rather add one tidbit of information with the angle of me playing his game.

Assuming Limbaugh is right about Mr. Fox not taking the meds to make his appearances more “dramatic.” My question is why should that be considered exploitation?

Mr. Fox is not exaggerating anything. By taking his medication, he’s merely suppressing the debilitating effects of the disease so he can live “normally.”1 When off of his meds, he isn’t aggravating it, he is simply letting the disease show it’s true form, no more, no less.

How is this an exaggeration? How can Mr. Limbaugh possibly claim that this is “exploitative” behavior? Does he mean to suggest that simply because there are drugs available that could “minimize” the effects of a disease, that people need not be informed of it’s true nature?

Here we have the American government basing their international policies on the premise of clearly exaggerated terrorism threat levels. The administration is ready to send people out to die because of some invisible foe they claim to be there. I’d be inclined to suggest that Mr. douchebag focus on that instead of trying to slam Mr. Fox’s earnest demonstration of a real threat which he himself is a victim of.

My favorite comment by YouTube users was addressing how he perceived Mr. Fox’s demonstration.

Limbaugh: Either he’s off his meds, or he’s acting… after all, he is an actor.

The comment capitalized on Mr. Limbaughs drug-addiction and aptly stated:

anonymous: Rush must have been high when he made those comments… He’s a drug addict, after all.

Touche!
