Not the usual cross-post

An entry to test some cross-posting from my site. While I do know different [free] sites have cross-posting capabilities already, I still would rather do everything through my own site. And it’s worth mentioning how surprisingly “complex” this whole exercise turned out to be. My apologies to all the people already subscribed to my feed - as I’m sure you got some pretty funky RSS activity since last night. Hopefully that’s all sorted out by now… hopefully. The thing that makes my method unique is that entries are not copied verbatim, instead you [should] see something like:
Simply put, all the “cross posting” going on will only notify the other sites that I have a new post (by posting that generic message/link). The reason for this is that I don’t want the contents of my posts to be copied verbatim to the other sites (which is how other technologies usually do it). The goal, like I stated in a past entry, was to leverage the other sites’ networking capabilities, but ultimately have people visit Also, I get to retain my normal workflow of posting: meaning I do it via an offline client (Ecto). I hate having to log into any other site just to post shit when I can just compose my stuff like email in Ecto; no timeout issues, no saving issues. What can I say, I’ve been spoiled. |
Hi Carlo.. I think one of the hassles in cross-posting is you have to monitor every site to look at the comments. I'm logged into my Bloglines now, the feed for your site is ok na though it took some time to load. Hmm, using an offline client for posting's a good idea. This year I plan to put up my own site too. Dyahe na for the clients who look for me online and what they see first is my Multiply site. Hehehe.
By the way, the "cross-posting" thing you did with Multiply, does it do that automatically every time you post, or you have to log in to Multiply and put it there?

About the checking of comments: yes what you say is true. But techincally, I think there are options on the sites' in question to notify you via e-mail that a comment has been made. I may be mistaken though.
Personally, on my site, I don't have email notifications on my comments, I created an RSS feed for it as well. Besides, given my goal of consolidating everything in nargalzius.com, hopefully I wouldn't have to check my "other" sites... or at least not as often.
For the cross posting naman in Multiply; I have yet to make another post to confirm this, but from what I read about their cross-posting feature, yes, it should be automatic.
