My blog has been acting up the whole of last week – which is why I haven’t been able to post about the other mundane stuff I’ve been up to.

Some geek shit

I had just upgraded the core WordPress engine, and for some reason, my index page won’t display articles. All other pages work though. There was nothing wrong with my code; and I don’t say this arrogantly, but because I tried plugging my code to a default template and it worked flawlessly. (Of course it did… why shouldn’t it? Ok that was a tad arrogant ;) hehehe.)

Anyways, I had the time to sort it out today after finishing work. Turns out the new version wouldn’t play nice with concurrent database connections like the older one did.1 Anyways, nothing that a simple mysql_select_db(); switch couldn’t fix. So back to regular programming

Some man shit

So I finally got my carbon fiber hood installed:

To tell you the truth, I was kinda iffy if the hood would look good. I mean honestly, I had a feeling that CF hoods look good the same way a pair of Crocs would “look good” to their respective owners. Not because they actually look good, but because they’re “iconic.” You buy Crocs because they’re Crocs. Fine, fine, they’re also also light and comfortable but seriously, I have yet to meet a person who would actually buy Crocs because they truly believe Crocs as a product look awesome.2

From a designer’s eye… I had always thought the car already looked classy/sexy without the hood. so it was quite a dilemma for me to decide wether I should spring for a new hood pa.

That was all before they actually installed the hood. Now that they have, I’m quite happy. It looks great! I wouldn’t go as far as saying the car needed the upgrade to make myself feel better, but worst case, it doesn’t look worse, and has a lot of practical advantages as a bonus.

Oh and I hadn’t mentioned the other stuff as well (has it really been that long?): I had some rain-guards installed early on (but didn’t make the first posting), they make the side windows look larger (which is a good thing). I also had some custom stickers made:

The new hood has also got a bit of a sticker treatment by the headlights if you would notice. And I found a better front plate bracket with a faux-CF finish – which goes well with the new hood.

Having said that… the car’s basically done for all intents and purposes. The rest of the additions I’m waiting on (brake caliper covers, and new floormats) are not really high-priority.

Some gay shit

The same day I got the hood, I went with Cris to the mall and we both had our toes pedicured @ that California Nails Day Spa in Hypermart hahahaha. Another first in my book… and that’s all that I’m going to say about that hahahaha. That, and my feet now actually look “better” than the feet of some women I know… yes I do take notice of women’s feet – just like Eddy Murphy in Boomerang3

I guess it doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of everything for some balance.

    1. my peer list, and social network icons, are stored in another database
    2. For the record… I HATE Crocs. I don’t know why, I just HATE them
    3. Not a deal-breaker for me though
