New song. New cover to be more precise.

I’ll just paste the information on it from the music page

This is a ballad by an artist named Maxwell. There are a couple of reasons why I chose to do this cover:

First, the usual “it’s been a while” reason: after a whole year of using my computer solely with OSX (all work, no play – makes Jack a dull boy), I decided to install Windows XP again and try recording. If you would look at the song before this, it was done in May 27 2008… it’s now May 26 2009 as of this posting… how time flies!

Secondly, I usually sing this during DWTL lullaby nights when I was still active (EONs ago). I guess dayzers who are familiar with me sort of identify me with this song.

Last and MOST IMPORTANTLY; I was invited to record for a DWTL fund-raising CD a couple of weeks ago, and this was one of the songs I was requested to do. However, to be perfectly honest, given the time constraints of my sessions and of course my “confidence” problem when it comes recording, I couldn’t say I did the song justice.1

This rendition is still far from being perfect,2 but it’s something I don’t mind people listening to. In fact, I think I was too bothered with that last one I did – that I felt compelled to do this just so I would feel better.

Only tech note here is that I was mixing/mastering “blindly” (or should it be “deafly”?). My mixer was acting up (probably from it being off for more than a year), and the tone on the headphone out (which is what I use to monitor) was considerably “colored.” So I ended up mastering with my regular (extremely colored) speakers instead of my reference earphones.

Other than that, I guess I recorded this almost the same way as I did with Hallelujah; one pass rhythm guitar panned left and right, then another for a fill guitar. Then I did a vocal pass… and another one for backup vocals.

And yes, I notice that the guitar is out of tune at the end, but I was too lazy to fix it hahahahaha.

    1. And the others songs I was involved with for that matter hahaha, but this song has a special place in my heart so it’s a bigger deal for me.
    2. Since I was too lazy to spend too much time with the song; In fact it took much less time to record this than that other “failed” one – iba talaga pag hindi napepressure/kinakabahan
